Embryonic Journey is a transformative adaptive reuse project that reimagines the historic Santa Fe Freight Depot into a maternal wellness and community center for pre- and post-natal mothers. Rooted in the heart of the Los Angeles Arts District, this project honors the industrial legacy of the structure while forging a new path forward— one centered on care, connection, and cultural depth.

In collaboration with the nonprofit Maternal Mental Health Leadership Alliance, Embryonic Journey provides a holistic range of offerings, including therapeutic consultations, wellness treatments, community memberships, and spa services. The design draws from ancient Indigenous traditions, using spatial symbolism to mirror the emotional and physical evolution of pregnancy. Visitors move through a journey-inspired architectural narrative—reflecting the cycles of growth, transformation, and rebirth.
